Last week I spent some time at Aberystwyth MusicFest which I’ve been to many times before and is always lots of fun.
I also got around to seeing Inception a few days ago, which I felt managed to live up to the hype far more comfortably than Christopher Nolan‘s previous film. The music in the film was generally lots of loud stomping fun! (some nice background info here) The most surprising thing about the underscore was simply how much of it there was. In a future repeat viewing I’ll have to get a stopwatch out and time how much of the film is accompanied by music, because at the time it felt almost continuous.
Last month I also finished working on a short film called Therapy for Beginners made by Will Scothern. The score ended up having lots of gloopy drones and swooshy noises. For a very small taste, here’s the shortest cue of the film, just a few seconds of swoosh:
